Mukono police are investigating a suspected suicide case at Seeta High School, Mukono, which occurred on February 21, 2025.
According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, preliminary reports indicate that around 3:00 AM, a 16-year-old Senior Three student, Ssesazi Elishammah, was found hanging in the dormitory.
Reports suggest that the deceased had attended evening classes the previous night until 10:00 PM before retiring to the dormitory with his classmates. However, at around 3:00 AM, a roommate discovered him hanging near his bed and immediately notified the school administration, which then alerted the police.
Police promptly responded, removing the body from the scene and transporting it to City Mortuary Mulago for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
“At this stage, the motive behind the suspected suicide remains unknown. Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident,” Owoyesigyire stated.
He urged students, parents, and the public to remain calm as authorities conduct a thorough investigation. Further details will be shared as the inquiry progresses.
