Panic has engulfed Seeta High School following the murder of one of its teachers, Oloya Ivan. Oloya was killed yesterday in Bajjo Cell, Nyenje Ward, Goma Division.
According to Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, five suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Oloya Ivan, a teacher at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus.
The arrested suspects include: Kasumba Paul, 21, a casual worker; Mabale Simon, 23, a casual worker; Kibuuka Tom, 38, a mechanic; Lukodda Simon, 18, a casual worker and Kandoole Charles Dani, 16, a casual worker.Reports indicate that Oloya Ivan left his workplace at Seeta High School, Mbalala Campus, and was heading home to Bajjo when he was attacked and killed near the gate of Code High School, where his wife, Abbey Mercy, works as a teacher.
“The police deployed a canine unit at the crime scene, which led to the arrest of the suspects. The body was taken to Mulago Hospital for a postmortem examination, and investigations are ongoing,” Onyango stated.
Oloya’s murder comes barely a month after the mysterious death of a 16-year-old Senior Three student, Ssesazi Elishammah, who was found hanging in a dormitory at Seeta High School.
Reports suggest that Ssesazi had attended evening classes the night before until 10:00 PM before retiring to the dormitory with his classmates. However, at around 3:00 AM, a roommate discovered him hanging near his bed and immediately notified the school administration, which then alerted the police.
