AtleastSix people have been confirmed dead following a devastating head-on collision that occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m. today along the Hoima–Kiboga Road.

According to SP Michael Kananura, the spokesperson for the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety at the Uganda Police Force, the crash involved an Isuzu bus, registration number UBQ 595G, and a Fuso Fighter truck, registration number UBF 541C.

Police said the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided head-on, sparking a fire that completely engulfed and destroyed both vehicles.

“Four occupants of the Fuso Fighter truck and two occupants of the bus including the driver were pronounced dead at the scene,” he said.

Seven other passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby health facility for urgent medical treatment.

Police in Kyankwanzi have launched investigations to establish the cause of the crash, including possible factors such as speed, visibility and driver error.
