Lwemiyaga County MP Theodore Ssekikubo has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abas Byakagaba, requesting armed police protection following a violent incident at a political rally.

According to Ssekikubo, the incident occurred on June 26, 2025, at Kirega in Kampala Parish, Lwemiyaga, where unknown assailants opened fire during a campaign rally. His supporter, Sembusi Alex, was shot dead, while Ssekikubo and another supporter, Moses Titangana, sustained gunshot wounds.

“We were attacked by members of the UPDF, commanded by Lt. Bashir Zziwa and on instructions of my fellow candidate, Brig Gen Rwashande. Sembusi Fred was shot dead and Moses Titangana and I sustained gunshot wounds,” Ssekikubo wrote in a letter addressed to the IGP.

The legislator, who is the nominated NRM Parliamentary flag bearer for the 2026–2031 term, said the attack highlights the need for heightened personal security during the ongoing electoral process. He has therefore formally requested armed police protection.
