Standard Chartered has donated assorted food supplies to three Muslim-founded schools in Kampala as part of its Ramadan community outreach initiative.

The bank partnered with Salaam Charity to deliver the donations, reflecting the spirit of compassion, generosity, and community that defines the holy month of Ramadan.

The food supplies were delivered by Standard Chartered staff together with their client MultiChoice to Jakayz Secondary School in Kabowa, Namasuba, and Asiyah Kids Academy in Kiteezi, to support students and staff observing the fasting period.

The food packages included essential items commonly used for preparing meals during Ramadan.

The annual initiative reflects the bank’s continued commitment to supporting communities during important cultural and religious moments while standing alongside institutions that nurture the next generation.

The handover was led by Margaret Kigozi, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing at Standard Chartered Uganda, who was accompanied by colleagues from the bank during visits to the various schools.

Speaking during the engagements, Kigozi said the gesture aligns with the bank’s Diversity and Inclusion agenda, which supports both its workforce and the communities it serves.

“Ramadan is a time for introspection, empathy, and generosity. It is also a time to celebrate the rich religious and cultural traditions that define the vibrant communities in which we operate,” she said.

“At Standard Chartered, we believe in walking alongside our communities during moments that matter most. Throughout our three-year partnership with Salaam Charity, we have had the opportunity to break fast with various Muslim communities. It is our hope that this small contribution helps make the fasting period a little easier for the beneficiaries and strengthens our connection with those observing this holy month.”

The visits also provided an opportunity for bank staff to interact with students and school leadership, reinforcing the importance of education, community solidarity, and shared responsibility.

Through partnerships with organisations such as Salaam Charity, Standard Chartered Uganda continues to support initiatives that strengthen communities and promote inclusive growth across the country.
