Uganda Development Bank (UDB) is gearing up to host a first-of-its-kind event that could reshape the trajectory of Africa’s development finance landscape.
From September 1–2, 2025, the inaugural Uganda Development Finance Summit will take place at the Speke Resort Convention Centre, drawing more than 400 influential voices from across the continent and beyond—government officials, economists, financiers, private sector leaders, and global development practitioners.
Under the bold theme “Transforming Africa through National Development Finance Architecture,” the summit promises to ignite serious conversations about how Africa can finance its own future—at a time when traditional aid and concessional funding are drying up.
Dr. Patricia Ojangole, Managing Director of UDB, described the summit as a pivotal moment: “Hosting this summit signals our resolve to lead from the front—to build a self-sustaining financial ecosystem that works for Africa, by Africa.”
Rather than rely on outdated aid models, the summit will spotlight innovative financing tools and the evolving role of national development banks in driving industrial policy, sustainability, and socio-economic transformation.
Participants won’t just attend—they’ll contribute to setting the agenda. From financing industrial policy to forging powerful new partnerships, the discussions are expected to echo far beyond the conference hall.
For Africa’s development finance community, this isn’t just another summit—it’s a call to action.
