The Uganda Prisons Service has announced a Shs10 million cash reward for anyone who provides credible information leading to the arrest of Warder Moses Anguyo, the main suspect in last month’s fatal shooting at Kiboga Government Prison.
“The Commissioner General of the Uganda Prisons Service has put a bounty of Shs10 million as a reward to anyone who provides reliable information leading to the arrest of murderer No. 13544 Warder Moses Anguyo, the prime suspect in the recent fatal shooting incident at Uganda Government Prison–Kiboga that left four people dead,” said prisons spokesperson Frank Baine.
“All information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality,” the statement added, urging the public to cooperate with authorities in locating the suspect.
Last month, Anguyo allegedly opened fire at the prison, killing three warders.
The deceased were identified as Assistant Superintendent of Prisons Hope Catherine (Deputy Officer in Charge), Principal Officer I Akishuri Bright (Third in Command), and Sarah Ayebare, the spouse of the Officer in Charge.
According to Baine, the incident occurred at around 10:00 a.m. when Warder Moses Anguyo opened fire on his supervisors, fatally shooting them before fleeing the facility.
Police were immediately called to the scene and secured the area. Joint security operations are currently underway to track down the suspect.
Baine added that although the firearm used in the shooting has been recovered, the suspect remains at large and is considered dangerous. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is urged to inform the police.
