The Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB) has attained the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) Certification, reinforcing its position as a forward-thinking institution committed to excellence, efficiency, and world-class service delivery.
The milestone was celebrated at the Uganda Business Facilitation Centre Auditorium in Kampala, where government leaders, stakeholders, Board members, management, and staff gathered to mark what many described as a defining moment in the Bureau’s transformation journey.
Presiding over the ceremony, Theopista Mary Wenene, Deputy Head of Public Service and Deputy Secretary to Cabinet, applauded URSB for setting a benchmark in public sector reform.
“URSB exemplifies how government institutions can drive transformation through strong systems, accountability, and results-oriented leadership. This certification signals not just compliance with global standards, but a deep institutional commitment to efficiency, transparency, and citizen-centred service delivery,” she remarked.
URSB Board Chairperson, Francis K. Butagira, emphasized that the achievement was the result of deliberate governance reforms and strategic oversight.
“Sustainable excellence does not happen by chance. It requires structured systems, disciplined processes, and measurable performance. This certification validates the strategic direction we have taken as a Board and affirms that URSB is firmly on the path of institutional strength and credibility,” he noted.
Registrar General Mercy K. Kainobwisho described the certification as both an achievement and a responsibility.
“ISO 9001:2015 provides a powerful framework for continuous improvement. It strengthens our resolve to deliver faster, standardized, and more reliable services. More importantly, it embeds a culture of quality across every level of our operations,” she said.
Globally recognized, ISO 9001:2015 sets the benchmark for quality management systems, emphasizing customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, risk-based thinking, and continual improvement.
For URSB, the certification represents more than a global endorsement, it reflects a strategic commitment to stronger governance, improved operational performance, and an enhanced client experience in business registration and intellectual property services.
As the Bureau steps into this new chapter, it reaffirms its dedication to embedding quality at the core of its mandate, supporting Uganda’s economic growth through transparent, efficient, and dependable registration services.
