Victoria University has officially been accredited to offer a Law program after meeting the minimum qualifications required by the relevant regulatory bodies, Daily Star has learned. The development was confirmed by the university’s management.

“Victoria University is officially accredited by the Law Council to teach LAW in Uganda. This follows an earlier approval by the National Council for Higher Education. Another bold step in shaping future legal minds with a practical, tech-driven approach,” the university announced in a statement.

Before receiving accreditation, Victoria University was required to meet several standards, including: Approval by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) and Accreditation from the Law Council

Others included a qualified and experienced law faculty, comprising professors and lecturers with relevant academic and professional legal backgrounds and a well-structured curriculum, covering key areas such as constitutional law, criminal law, civil law, international law, and offering practical training opportunities like moot court competitions, legal clinics, and internships

The university also boasts a well-stocked law library with access to legal databases and research resources—essential tools for any law student. Recognizing the importance of digital literacy and modern education trends, Victoria University has invested heavily in technology to support online learning, digital research, and student administration.

With adequate funding allocated for faculty salaries, learning resources, and infrastructure, the university is now fully equipped to launch the new law program.
