Kira Road Police are investigating the suspected drugging of Martha Ahumuza Murari at Mezo Noir, a nightclub in Kololo.
Ahumuza, a recent graduate of Isbat University, reportedly collapsed in the manager’s office. She was admitted to the ICU at Kampala Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, two suspects—Edward Mugabo, a cashier at the club, and his brother Joseph Kalenzi—have been arrested as investigations intensify.
Following the tragic incident, Mezo Noir has been temporarily closed to the public.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Mezo Noir Kampala will be temporarily closed to the public, effective immediately, until further notice,” the club said in a statement.
“We appreciate your understanding and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. A notification will be issued in due course announcing the reopening date,” the statement further read.
Martha’s vigil will be held today at Kembabazi, and she will be laid to rest on Sunday, March 23, in Mbarara.
