Territorial police in Nagalama have rescued 51 individuals from a suspected human trafficking and job recruitment scam linked to AIM Global Alliance, a networking company operating in the Naggalama Division.
According to authorities, police received reports on Wednesday about a fraudulent recruitment scheme allegedly run by AIM Global Alliance. Victims were lured with promises of employment opportunities and were instructed to bring Shs 150,000 as a “training fee” upon reporting for work.
“After taking possession of the victims’ phones, the perpetrators would begin contacting their friends and family, convincing them to pay Shs 1.5 million for company products with the promise of future profits through resale,” police stated in an official report.
Victims were further misled with assurances that they would eventually earn at least Shs 1 million monthly, based on the number of people they recruited and the sales they made.
The police operation was carried out in various areas of Kalagi, Mukono District, where victims were found living in cramped conditions.
The breakdown is as follows: Kakola Village, Kyabakadde Parish, Kyampisi Sub-county: 14 victims (3 males, 11 females) were found sleeping in a single room.
Kalagi Village, Naggalama A Ward, Nakifuma-Naggalama Town Council: 20 victims (10 males, 10 females) were all found in one small room.
Bbosa Village, Kyabakadde Parish: 14 victims (6 males, 8 females), also living in a single room.
The main suspects, identified as Kasule Zephaniah and Nantima Evelyn, were arrested and are currently in detention at Nagalama Police Station.
