Kajansi Police Division is investigating an aggravated robbery that took place yesterday at Lweza Cell A, Ndejje Division, Makindye-Ssabagabo Municipality in Wakiso District.

According to Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan Police, two unidentified men riding a red Haojue motorcycle (registration number UGG 774A) attacked a parked Toyota Premio (registration number UBE 079Z) outside N & M Unisex Salon. Armed with an AK-47 rifle, the assailants shattered the vehicle’s windows and made off with two bags.

While fleeing the scene, the suspects were confronted by a boda boda rider, Tumwesigye Peter (27), who was shot and injured along with Abdul Swabur (18).

Both victims were rushed to Mildmay Hospital, and Swabur was later referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital for further treatment.

A joint effort by boda boda riders, local residents, and police led to the pursuit and neutralization of one of the suspects.

Recovered from the scene were an AK-47 rifle, the red Haojue motorcycle (UGG 774A), one cartridge, and a national ID believed to belong to one of the assailants. Also recovered were two mobile phones, a red bag used to conceal the firearm, and a black bag containing a ring spanner, reportedly belonging to the victim.

“We commend the swift response of the community and boda boda riders. Further updates will follow as investigations continue,” Owoyesigyire stated.
