DKT International Uganda has launched a nationwide outreach campaign dubbed the ‘Sex Mobile’ caravan aimed at raising awareness about HIV prevention, promoting safe sex and improving access to sexual and reproductive health services.
The campaign, which will run for several months, will see a specially equipped mobile van travel across the country, engaging communities through health education, interactive roadshows and distribution of sexual and reproductive health (SRHR) products.
Funded through the Phil Harvey Impact Fund in honour of DKT’s late founder, the initiative is designed to take sexual health information and services closer to communities, particularly through public engagement in towns, markets, taxi parks and entertainment spots.
The caravan forms part of DKT Uganda’s #ReadyToPlay campaign, which is being conducted under its Kiss Condoms brand. It seeks to encourage responsible sexual behaviour, promote correct and consistent condom use and increase access to quality contraceptive products.
The outreach will cover several regions, including Central, Eastern, Western, Northern Uganda and West Nile, with planned stops in Jinja, Mbale, Masaka, Mbarara, Fort Portal, Hoima, Gulu, Arua, Soroti and Lira, among other towns.
At each stop, the team will conduct interactive roadshows, provide health information, offer product sampling and link participants to nearby health facilities, clinics and pharmacies for further sexual and reproductive health services.
One of the major activities will be the World AIDS Day commemoration on December 1 in Gulu, where the caravan is expected to support HIV prevention awareness and link communities to counselling services in partnership with the Ministry of Health.
According to DKT Uganda, the campaign will combine education and entertainment to attract public participation and make conversations about sexual health more accessible.
Activities will include roadshows led by brand ambassadors, public awareness sessions on pregnancy prevention, HIV and sexually transmitted infections, as well as audience participation games and promotional activities at selected retail outlets.
The campaign will also feature the #KissDanceChallenge on TikTok, through which social media users and content creators will be encouraged to participate in online engagements.
Alongside the outreach activities, DKT Uganda says it is working to ensure the availability of its Kiss condoms and lubricating gel across pharmacies, drug shops, clinics, supermarkets and other retail outlets.
The product range includes Kiss Classic, Kiss Studded, flavoured and coloured condoms in Chocolate, Passion Fruit and Strawberry varieties, Kiss Extra Time and Kiss Black.
The company also distributes Kiss Lubricating Gel, a water-based personal lubricant available in a 50ml pack.
Charles E. Bbanda, marketing coordinator at DKT International Uganda, said the initiative was intended to bring sexual health education and protection closer to communities.
“The arrival of the Sex Mobile in Uganda represents a major step forward in bringing sexual health education and safe choices directly to the people,” Bbanda said.
“Through our #ReadyToPlay initiative and our complete Kiss condoms portfolio, we are breaking barriers, making protection accessible and fun, and empowering every Ugandan to take charge of their sexual safety and well-being wherever they are across the country.”
