Property mogul Sudhir Ruparelia has spoken out following the untimely death of his son, Rajiv Ruparelia, describing the immense pain and pride he feels as a father.

Rajiv, aged 35, tragically lost his life in a motor accident on May 3, 2025, near the Busaabala Flyover traffic lights in Makindye Ssabagabo, Wakiso District. His passing was confirmed by Michael Kananura, spokesperson for the Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety.

Speaking at the cremation ceremony held at the Hindu cremation grounds in Lugogo, Kampala, Sudhir shared a heartfelt tribute to his late son.

“As a father, I carry the immeasurable pain of his loss, and at the same time, immense pride in having raised a son like Rajiv,” Sudhir said. “I will always remember his vibrant energy—how he lit up every gathering he attended.”

He described Rajiv as a gifted and fast learner with a natural talent for entrepreneurship and other ventures. “That’s how he connected so deeply with people,” Sudhir noted. “He didn’t just show up—he inspired. He made everyone feel seen, valued, and empowered, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds.”

Sudhir emphasized Rajiv’s deep commitment to education. “He supported students from primary school through to university, offering mentorship, resources, and encouragement to dream beyond their circumstances. He saw potential where others saw limitation and became a pillar of strength and hope for everyone around him.”

He further highlighted Rajiv’s character, calling him genuine, loyal, and honest—whether in times of joy or hardship. “Rajiv built lasting relationships across all walks of life: with his peers, in political circles, and with everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.”

Sudhir also spoke about Rajiv’s well-known love for motorsport. “He pursued it with great passion and intensity. I remember once asking him to step away from it for his own safety—which he did, though the passion always stayed close to his heart.”

In a touching recollection, Sudhir shared memories from Rajiv’s childhood. “I remember buying him a small suitcase while we were in London when he was just five years old. He would accompany me to meetings, always carrying that suitcase—stuffed full of chocolates.”

He also recalled cherished moments they spent together fishing on Lake Victoria. “Those are among the countless, precious memories I will carry with me for the rest of my life.”
