Captain Joseph C. Roy, a brother to Capt. Francis Babu and his wife, Daisy Roy, founded Dairo Air Services in 1983 in Uganda. The company later rebranded as DAS Air Cargo.

They developed a cargo route network connecting Europe to 20 destinations across Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, with main operational hubs in Entebbe and London–Gatwick.

DAS Air Cargo primarily operated Boeing 707‑320C and McDonnell Douglas DC‑10‑30F aircraft.

One notable aircraft was the DC‑10‑30F, registration 5X‑ROY, named in honor of Captain Roy. Photographs from Schiphol Airport (2003–2006) show it in full DAS Air Cargo livery.

As of March 2007, the airline had a fleet of one aircraft and employed approximately 228 people, before ceasing operations on 17 September 2007.

Originally based in Entebbe, Uganda, DAS Air Cargo established itself as a key player in air freight, connecting Africa and Europe.

With London–Gatwick as its European hub, the airline helped create an essential East–West cargo corridor until its closure in 2007.
