Singer Douglas Mayanja, aka Weasel, is fighting for his life at Nsambya Hospital after what eyewitnesses claim was a deliberate hit-and-run by his partner, Sandra Teta, during a dramatic altercation in Munyonyo.
The incident unfolded at Shans Bar, a popular entertainment spot where industry insiders regularly gather. According to multiple witnesses, Teta arrived at the venue visibly upset, briefly dropped off the couple’s children with Weasel, and left only to return moments later.
What started as a heated exchange between the two quickly escalated. Witnesses say harsh words were exchanged before Teta got back into her white Mercedes Benz (registration UBH 148Y), and in what onlookers described as a shocking moment allegedly drove straight into Weasel, knocking him to the ground.
She then reportedly fled the scene as bystanders rushed the unconscious musician to hospital.
Police have since impounded the vehicle, which is being held at Kabalagala Police Station. Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson Luke Owoyesigyire confirmed the ongoing investigation.
“She has been charged with unlawful wounding of a person,” he stated. “Further investigations are underway to establish the full circumstances of the incident.” No statement has been recorded from Teta yet.
This latest incident adds to a troubled history between the couple. In previous years, photos of a visibly bruised Sandra Teta made rounds on social media, igniting public concern. At the time, she defended Weasel, insisting the situation had been blown out of proportion.
But those close to the couple tell a different story describing a relationship marred by repeated physical altercations from both sides.
As Weasel remains hospitalized, questions loom over the long standing cycle of violence between the two. For now, fans and observers await both his recovery and the truth behind the night that turned tragic.
