The City Hall Grade One Magistrate’s Court has remanded Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Clive Nsiima to Luzira Prison on charges of assault and malicious damage to property following an incident at a Shell fuel station in Kyanja.
ASP Nsiima appeared before the court after CCTV footage emerged showing him slapping a supermarket attendant during an altercation. He was also accused of damaging the victim’s smartphone during the incident.
While in court, Nsiima’s lawyer informed the magistrate that the parties involved had since reached a reconciliation agreement. Despite this, the court remanded him until October 16, 2025, pending further proceedings.
According to police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma, swift action was taken upon receiving reports of the incident.
“We arrested Clive, detained him in our police cells, and subjected him to disciplinary action,” Rusoke stated.
The incident came to light on October 7, 2025, when a video circulated on social media showing a male client physically assaulting a female attendant at the Shell station.
“Our preliminary investigations identified ASP Nsiima as the suspect. He was apprehended and placed in police custody,” Rusoke added.
Police confirmed that they have engaged the victim and key witnesses, and emphasized that the force does not tolerate such misconduct.
“We condemn this behaviour as it contravenes our disciplinary code,” the spokesperson said, assuring the public that the officer would be held accountable.
