Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court has remanded lawyer Hassan Male Mabirizi to Luzira Prison over allegations of hate speech and spreading malicious information.

Mabirizi appeared before Chief Magistrate Ritah Neumbe Kidasa, facing charges related to statements he allegedly made against the newly appointed Chief Justice Zeija Flavian and Justice Musa Ssekaana of the Court of Appeal.

The prosecution, led by Richard Birivumbuka and Joan Keko, stated that in January 2026, Mabirizi, using a computer via TikTok, sent, shared, or transmitted false information about the Chief Justice in Kampala, Wakiso, and other areas of Uganda.

According to prosecutors, Mabirizi allegedly described Chief Justice Zeija as a “conman,” “fraudster,” “corrupt,” and accused him of selling property to pay a bribe for his appointment as Principal Judge—claims that are false, likely to ridicule, degrade, or demean him.

He is also accused of making similar false statements about Justice Musa Ssekaana, labeling him a “conman” and “fraudster,” which the prosecution said could demean the judge.

Mabirizi pleaded not guilty and was subsequently remanded to Luzira Prison until February 18, 2026.
