The South West State Government Minister for Aviation and Transport in Somalia, Hassan Abdinur Adan, has commended the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) troops serving under the African Union Support and Stabilisation Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) for their role in promoting peace and stability in the region.
The minister made the remarks during a courtesy visit to the Battle Group 45 Headquarters in Barawe, where he praised the professionalism and dedication of the Ugandan contingent.
He thanked the troops for the expertise and effort they have invested in stabilising the area, noting that their willingness to serve far from their families was deeply appreciated by both the Somali people and leadership.
“The way you conduct your work is admirable. Leaving your families to serve here is something we do not take for granted,” Minister Adan said.
He reaffirmed the South West State Government’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with AUSSOM and the UPDF, pledging continued support to efforts aimed at sustaining peace and stability in the region.
In response, Battle Group 45 Commander Colonel Justus Musenene reiterated the UPDF contingent’s resolve to maintain the prevailing calm and to protect key government installations in line with the AUSSOM mandate.
