Uganda’s motorsport pride, Oscar Ntambi, is revving up for the global stage. KCB Bank Uganda has officially flagged off the rally champion and his co-driver, Asuman Muhammed, as they prepare to take on the 2026 World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally in Naivasha, Kenya.

The colorful ceremony at the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) headquarters in Lugogo also shone the spotlight on fellow Ugandan drivers Duncan Mubiru, Yasin Nasser, and Timothy Gawaya, signaling Uganda’s strong presence at the four-day rally set for March 12–15.

KCB Bank Uganda has thrown its weight behind Ntambi and Muhammed, pledging up to KShs 227 million to ensure the duo has top-notch support. The funding will cover technical upgrades, training, and all the essentials to compete with the world’s best. FMU added Shs 40 million to the mix for travel, accommodation, and logistics, highlighting the country’s united push for motorsport excellence.

Zainab Kalyowa, KCB Bank Uganda’s Brand Experience Manager, hailed the moment as “a milestone for Uganda’s motorsport fraternity.” She added, “Oscar’s journey from national champion to WRC contender shows what’s possible when talent meets support. We are proud to back not just him, but Uganda on the world stage.”

Driving a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Ralliart in his WRC debut, Ntambi expressed both pride and determination. “This is bigger than me—it’s about showing the world what Uganda can do,” he said. “I’m ready to give it everything in Naivasha and make my country proud.”

The acting FMU President encouraged Ugandans to cheer loudly, wave flags, and rally behind their team as they line up alongside rally legends like Sébastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville.

The 2026 Safari Rally will stretch over 350.02 kilometres of competitive stages and 842.9 kilometres of liaison distance, featuring iconic stages such as Camp Moran, Loldia, Geothermal, Kedong, and Hell’s Gate. The action kicks off on March 12 with a shakedown at the Nawisa stage, leading to the ceremonial flag-off. The finale on March 15 includes the thrilling Wolf Power Stage and a grand prize-giving ceremony.

To bring fans closer to the action, KCB Bank is offering VIP tickets to customers who transact via KCB Mobile Banking. Kalyowa added, “As Ntambi tackles the dusty, demanding Safari stages, we’re calling on every Ugandan to rally behind him.”
