Proceeds from the upcoming Muhoozi Kainerugaba (MK) Birthday Run will be used to support vulnerable children, government spokesperson Allan Kasujja has said.

The run is organised in honour of Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is set to mark his 52nd birthday on April 26 at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Speaking at a press conference at the Uganda Media Centre, Kasujja said the event is designed as an inclusive national activity bringing together Ugandans from all walks of life.

“This birthday belongs to every Ugandan, from children in Gulu and traders in Owino Market to university students, fishermen and farmers across the country,” he said.

He added that this year’s theme, Run for Charity, Run for Hope, reflects a deliberate decision to channel the celebrations into a cause that benefits society.

According to Kasujja, the initiative underscores Gen Kainerugaba’s commitment to giving back to the community rather than marking the occasion privately.

“This is a civic engagement that reflects the relationship between leadership and the people, while also addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, particularly orphans,” he said.

Organisers say the run is expected to attract participants from across the country, with funds raised earmarked for programmes supporting orphaned and disadvantaged children.
