Masaka High Court has granted bail to four civilian bodyguards attached to National Unity Platform (NUP) president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, commonly known as Bobi Wine, over robbery charges.

The four are Achilleo Kivumbi, Gaddafi Mugumya, Grace Wakabi and Eddie Ssebufu, alias Eddie Mutwe.

The court granted each of them cash bail of Shs5 million, while their sureties are required to provide non-cash security of Shs50 million.

However, Ssebufu and Kivumbi will remain in custody because they are facing separate charges in the military drill case before the Kawempe Magistrate’s Court.

Wakabi and Mugumya are expected to be released after fulfilling the bail conditions imposed by the High Court.

The four are accused of robbery arising from an incident that occurred on May 18, 2024, in Manja Village, Lwengo District, during the funeral of businessman Pascal Ssekasamba.

Their bail application was heard by the Masaka High Court as they sought temporary release pending the disposal of the criminal case against them.

The latest court decision means that although all four have been granted bail in the robbery case, the separate military-related proceedings will continue to keep Ssebufu and Kivumbi in custody.
