One person has died and 25 others have been rescued after a building under construction at Holy City Church, Brother Ronnies Ministries, collapsed in Bwerenga, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
The deceased has been identified as Lukwago Francis, a builder who was working at the construction site when the structure collapsed.
In a statement, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Rachael Kawala said 25 adult men had been rescued from the rubble as of October 27, 2026.
The survivors were taken to Kisubi Hospital and Entebbe Grade B Hospital for medical attention.
Kawala said search and rescue operations were still ongoing as emergency response teams worked to establish whether more people remained trapped beneath the debris.
Investigations into the cause of the collapse are also underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The authorities are yet to establish the full number of people who were at the construction site when the structure came down.
The incident raises questions about construction safety and compliance with building standards, although investigators are yet to establish what caused the collapse.
