A total of 817,885 candidates are set to sit for the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), according to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB).
This year’s registration figure represents an increase from 797,444 candidates in 2024, reflecting a 2.5% rise.
The candidates are registered from 16,140 examination centers across the country. Of these, 389,529 (48%) are male, while 428,356 (52%) are female.
In terms of sponsorship, 522,039 candidates (64%) are funded by the government under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) program, while 295,846 (36%) are privately sponsored.
Additionally, 61 registered candidates are inmates from Upper Prison School, Luzira. Among them, 7 are female and 54 are male.
