Kawempe North Mobilization Chairman, Sserubiri Charles, who was in possession of the nomination documents for National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Eria Luyimbazi Nalukoola, has been arrested.

His arrest was confirmed by NUP party president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine. Luyimbazi was scheduled to be nominated at 11:00 AM at the Electoral Commission offices in Kawempe.

“Regime thugs have trailed and abducted NUP Kawempe North Mobilization Chairman, Sserubiri Charles, who had the nomination documents for candidate Nalukoola,” Bobi Wine stated.

Speaking after the arrest of his agent, Nalukoola condemned the incident, calling it “horrible” but vowed not to surrender or abandon the noble cause of advancing democracy in Uganda.

“We urge all peace-loving individuals and supporters of democracy to condemn the actions of the security forces, who abducted my official agent and confiscated crucial documents meant to facilitate my nomination. These included a receipt confirming the payment of nomination fees,” he said.

Daily Star has learned that Nalukoola has refilled the form.
