Entebbe International Airport recorded a total of 178,383 passengers in March 2025, according to data obtained by Daily Star. The figures were confirmed by Vianney Mpungu Luggya, Public Relations Officer at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
Of the total, 83,661 passengers arrived, while 94,722 departed to various destinations around the world—averaging 5,754 passengers per day.
The March 2025 figures represent an increase of 6,393 passengers compared to March 2024, which saw 171,990 passengers pass through the airport.
However, in February 2025, the airport handled 161,095 international passengers, a drop from 175,630 in February 2024.
“It has so far been a year of highs and lows, marked by varied passenger traffic patterns, with January 2025 recording 216,740 international passengers, the second-highest monthly traffic in the airport’s history,” Luggya noted.
The growth in March is partly attributed to Uganda’s hosting of international conferences, increased efforts in tourism promotion, and the introduction of new airlines such as Flynas, which launched direct flights between Riyadh and Entebbe in January 2025. Additionally, Uganda Airlines has continued to expand its operations on new routes.
In terms of cargo, Entebbe International Airport handled a total of 5,852 metric tons—with 1,965 metric tons of imports and 3,887 metric tons of exports. The continued dominance of exports over imports is contributing to increased foreign exchange earnings and other economic benefits for the country.
