The Electoral Commission is set to conclude the verification of the national voter register following a 20-day exercise.
The display exercise, which began on April 25, 2025, will end on May 15, 2025. It marks a critical step in promoting transparency, accuracy, and public participation as the country prepares for the 2025/2026 General Elections.
“The Electoral Commission appeals to all stakeholders in the electoral process to actively participate in the display exercise and adhere to the issued guidelines,” said Justice Simon Byabakama, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
The voter register verification process is essential in determining voter eligibility for polling day. During this period, citizens are encouraged to: Verify the correct spelling of their names, Confirm they are registered in the correct parish and Report the names of deceased persons or individuals under the age of 18.
To verify their photos and personal details, voters must visit their designated display centers in person before the exercise concludes on May 15, 2025.
Earlier this week, Julius Mucunguzi, the Electoral Commission spokesperson, stated that there will be no extension of the verification period.
“The Electoral Commission appeals to all stakeholders in the electoral process to actively participate in the display exercise and adhere to the issued guidelines,” Mucunguzi emphasized.
The Commission urges all eligible voters to take this opportunity seriously to ensure a free, fair, and credible election process.
