The Electoral Commission has extended the display period of the voters’ register for 620 polling stations across the country. This announcement was made by Justice Simon Byabakama, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission.
Last month, the Commission began displaying the National Voters Register in preparation for the 2026 general elections. The register is currently available for public viewing daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., including weekends, at all polling stations throughout Uganda.
According to the Electoral Commission, this exercise is crucial as it determines voter eligibility for polling day. During this period, no new voter registrations or transfers to other polling stations will be accepted.
“Display officers will be physically stationed at each polling station throughout the entire display period to assist voters, especially those affected by the re-organisation of polling stations,” the Commission stated.
Justice Byabakama added, “As communicated earlier, for the 620 polling stations where the commencement of the display was delayed due to technical challenges during register production, the Commission will conduct the display for the full statutory period of twenty-one days.”
This extended display period runs from April 30, 2025, and will conclude on May 20, 2025, for all the affected areas.
