Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has appointed Brig Oscar Munanura as the new Chief of Defence Intelligence and Security (CDIS) of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF), promoting him to the rank of acting major general.
Munanura, who was serving as deputy CDIS, replaces Maj Gen Richard Otto, who has been transferred to the Joint Staff Human Resource Management for redeployment.
Announcing the changes, Col Chris Magezi, the acting director of Defence Public Information at the Ministry of Defence and Veteran Affairs, said the UPDF had congratulated Munanura on his promotion and appointment.
“The UPDF fraternity congratulates Ag Maj General Oscar Munanura for the promotion and appointment, and commends Maj General Richard Otto for the great work he has done during his tenure,” Magezi said.
Magezi added that the military wished both officers success in their new assignments.
Gen Muhoozi, who also serves as Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, made the appointment as part of changes within the military leadership.
