President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to officially pick up nomination forms this Saturday at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission offices, signaling his intent to retain both the party chairmanship and the presidential flag bearer slot ahead of the 2026 general elections.
This announcement was made earlier today by NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, during a press briefing.
“Like other candidates, the President and National Chairman of the NRM will express his interest and personally pick nomination forms,” Dr. Tanga said.
He further explained that President Museveni will collect forms for two key positions: NRM National Chairman and party presidential flag bearer, pending endorsement.
The process for expressing interest and picking nomination forms for all Central Executive Committee (CEC) positions will run from June 26 to July 1, with official nominations for these positions scheduled for July 4.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission’s nominations for parliamentary and district chairperson aspirants are ongoing, entering their second week at the Commission’s headquarters on Plot 13, Kyadondo Road, Kampala.
