Former Uganda Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Angualia Louis Richard, has died following a fatal motorcycle accident near Abi Farm in Ayivu East Constituency, Arua City.
Ambassador Angualia reportedly collided head-on with another motorcycle rider this evening while riding a Bajaj motorcycle. He died at the scene of the crash.
Angualia was a prominent political figure in the West Nile region. In 2011, he contested for the Maracha County parliamentary seat, but lost to Alex Onzima Adroa.
Following the creation of two constituencies in Maracha District in 2016 Maracha Constituency and Maracha East Constituency Ambassador Angualia ran for the Maracha Constituency MP seat in the 2016 general elections but was defeated by Hon. Oguzu Lee Denis.
He later shifted his political ambitions to Maracha East Constituency, where he again contested during the NRM primary elections on 4 September 2020, but lost to Ruth Lematia Molly Ondoru, who went on to represent the constituency in the 2021 general elections.
Ambassador Angualia’s death comes as a shock to many in the political and diplomatic community. More details about funeral arrangements and tributes are expected in the coming days.
