The Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP), James Ocaya, has paid tribute to the late Director of Human Rights and Legal Services, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Charles Katalatambi, describing him as a man who lived by professionalism, integrity, and selfless service.
Ocaya made the remarks during a church service held at Watoto Church, Bombo Road, where mourners gathered to honour the fallen senior police officer. AIGP Katalatambi passed away on October 2, 2025.
“To the officers present: The greatest tribute we can pay AIGP Charles Katalatambi is not just in our tears, but in our actions,” Ocaya said during the service.
He urged police officers to carry forward the legacy of the fallen officer by recommitting themselves to the values he embodied: professionalism, integrity, and selfless service.
“Let every act of courage, every instance of justice served, and every community helped be a living memory to our fallen officer,” he added.
Ocaya remarked that AIGP Katalatambi had now reported for his final parade, symbolically noting that his duty was complete.
“Farewell, our brother. Your legacy is etched in the history of the Uganda Police Force and in the hearts of all who knew you. May your soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in eternal peace,” he said.
