Omumbejja Diana Balizzamuggale Teyeggala Ndege has passed away. Her death was confirmed by the Katikkiro of Buganda, Charles Peter Mayiga.

She was a daughter of the late Edward Muteesa II and a sister to Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

Speaking to the media, Katikkiro Mayiga said Omumbejja Diana had been bedridden for a long time and had received treatment from various health facilities.

She will be laid to rest tomorrow at the newly refurbished Kasubi Royal Tombs. Prior to the burial, a church service will be held at St. Andrew’s Kasubi Church of Uganda, located near the Kasubi Royal Tombs.

The Katikkiro has instituted a committee to oversee the burial arrangements. The committee is led by Buganda’s Minister for Culture, Owek. Dr. Anthony Wamala, and includes Minister David F.K. Mpanga, John Kitenda, David Nkalubo, and Josephine Nantege Ssemanda, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Katikkiro.

In April, Omumbejja Diana officiated at the launch of the African Buddhist High School in Entebbe, as the Buddhist fraternity marked 20 years of presence in Uganda. During the event, she urged parents to educate their children so that they can support them in old age and contribute to the growth and development of the country.
