Omumbejja Diana Balizzamuggale Teyeggala Ndege has been laid to rest at the Kasubi Royal Tombs.

She was a daughter of the late Kabaka Edward Muteesa II and a sister to Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II. Her burial at the royal site underscored her status as a senior member of the Buganda Royal Family.

According to Katikkiro Charles Mayiga, Omumbejja Diana had been bedridden for a long time and received treatment from various health facilities.

Despite her illness, she remained committed to serving society and continued to participate in public and community activities whenever her health allowed.

Prior to the burial, a church service was held at St. Andrew’s Kasubi Church of Uganda, near the Kasubi Royal Tombs, attended by members of the royal family, government officials, religious leaders, and members of the public.

During the service, mourners described her as a humble, selfless, and compassionate person who dedicated her life to serving both Buganda and Uganda.

Omumbejja Diana was known for her strong support of education, culture, and interfaith harmony.

In April, she officiated at the launch of the African Buddhist High School in Entebbe as the Buddhist fraternity marked 20 years of presence in Uganda.

At the event, she encouraged parents to prioritize educating their children, noting that education empowers the young to support their families in old age and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Throughout her life, Omumbejja Diana played an important advisory and cultural role within the Buganda Kingdom and was widely respected for her wisdom, dignity, and commitment to preserving Buganda’s heritage. Her death is a significant loss to the royal family, the kingdom, and the nation at large.
