The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni, is set to release the 2025 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results, Daily Star has learned. The results will be released later today at State House, Nakasero.

According to the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), a total of 817,885 candidates sat for the Primary Leaving Examinations.

This represents an increase from 797,444 candidates in 2024, reflecting a 2.5 percent rise.

The candidates were registered from 16,140 examination centres across the country. Of these, 389,529 (48 percent) were male, while 428,356 (52 percent) were female.

In terms of sponsorship, 522,039 candidates (64 percent) were funded by the government under the Universal Primary Education (UPE) programme, while 295,846 (36 percent) were privately sponsored.

Additionally, 61 registered candidates were inmates from Upper Prison School, Luzira. Of these, seven were female and 54 were male.
