Former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been arrested by soldiers attached to the Special Forces Command (SFC) following an operation at his residence.
Eyewitnesses said heavily armed soldiers first sealed off the perimeter of Lukwago’s home before moving in and taking him into custody. The circumstances surrounding the arrest remain unclear.
The deployment, which drew attention from residents in the area, effectively restricted access to and from the premises during the operation.
By press time, authorities had yet to issue an official statement explaining the reasons for Lukwago’s arrest.
