At least four children have been killed in a tragic stabbing incident at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in Makindye Division, Kampala City. The 34-year-old Christopher Okello, killed one girl and three boys.
The incident was confirmed by Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, Racheal Kawala, who described it as a brutal attack targeting young children at the school.
“We confirm a tragic incident at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Program School in Makindye Division, Kampala City, where a male suspect brutally stabbed and killed four juveniles,” Kawala said.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, the suspect, identified as Christopher Okello Anyu, had a day earlier visited Ggaba Early Childhood Day Care Centre in Makindye Division, Kampala, seeking to have his child admitted.
“Preliminary findings indicate that a few days ago, the suspect came to the facility seeking admission for his child and was advised to return today. He later returned, paid the required admission fees, and shortly after proceeded to attack the children, killing four of them instantly,” Kawala said.
She identified the deceased as Ryan Odeke, aged one and a half years, Gideon Eteko, aged two and a half years, Keisha Elungat, aged two, and Ignatius Sseruyange, aged two.
“The bodies have been taken to Mulago City Mortuary for postmortem examinations,” she added.
Kawala further noted that the 10 other children who were in the same class at the time of the incident were safely handed over to their parents following the attack. The suspect has since been apprehended and is currently in police custody, while investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the killings.
