Masaka Chief Magistrate Albert Asiimwe has declared National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate Justine Nameere the duly elected Member of Parliament for Masaka City following a three-day vote recount.
According to the final results, Nameere secured 25,502 votes, defeating National Unity Platform (NUP) candidate Rose Nalubowa, who garnered 23,176 votes.
My case sets a new precedent in line with modern politics,” Nameere said.
She also spoke about what she termed her “spy network” and outlined her next steps, signalling her determination to press on despite the challenges.
The three-day recount saw at least five ballot boxes flagged for irregularities, triggering objections from some opposition candidates.
Nameere, however, said the exercise reaffirmed her victory and her commitment to serving her constituents.
