The Bhambhatt Samaj Uganda has honoured businessman Harshad Maganbhai Barot, founder of Tirupati Group in Uganda, following his recent recognition with the Crested Crane Grand Officer Award by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on January 26, 2026.
The celebratory event, held in Kampala last week, brought together members of the Bhambhatt community, business leaders, and well-wishers to recognise Barot’s contributions and longstanding ties to Uganda.
Speaking on behalf of the family, his son, Miraj Harshad Barot, expressed gratitude for the recognition and the continued support from the community.
“This award reflects the values our community stands for — service, integrity, and hard work,” he said. “My father arrived in Uganda in 1993, and we are proud to call this country home. This honour belongs to every Ugandan of Indian origin who has contributed to the growth of this nation.”
Organisers noted that the event was not only a celebration of Barot’s achievement but also an opportunity to highlight the significant contributions of the Indian-Ugandan community to the country’s socio-economic development.
The organising team, led by Sachin Brahmbhatt, was commended for successfully hosting the event. Appreciation was also extended to Nitesh Brahmbhatt and Nilesh Brahmbhatt for their role in coordinating the celebration.
The Crested Crane Grand Officer Award is among Uganda’s highest national honours, conferred in recognition of distinguished service and outstanding contribution to the country.
