Court has convicted Rev. Fr Dominic Alinga of murder and attempted murder, sentencing him to 21 years in prison in a case prosecuted by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
The conviction relates to the killing of John Bosco Ngorok and the attempted murder of Moses Abigaba following a violent incident that occurred on August 2, 2024.
According to court records, Rev. Fr Alinga, who had been charged in October 2024, allegedly suspected that Ngorok had exposed confidential information that led to his suspension.
Prosecution told court that the priest lured Ngorok into a meeting before attacking and stabbing him while they travelled towards Entebbe.
As Ngorok attempted to escape and seek help, he was assisted by Abigaba. However, the accused reportedly knocked both men with a vehicle before fleeing the scene. Ngorok later died from the injuries sustained.
Following the attack, Rev. Fr Alinga is said to have attempted to conceal evidence and fled to Tororo.
Court heard that he later confessed to a fellow priest before handing himself over to police, paving the way for his arrest and subsequent trial.
On July 23, 2026, court found him guilty of both murder and attempted murder.
