Former Butambala County MP Muhammad Muwanga Kivumbi has been remanded to Kitalya prison following 19 days incommunicado after his arrest.
Kivumbi was on Wednesday produced before Butambala Magistrate’s court, where he was charged with inciting violence and holding an unlawful assembly. He had earlier been held at Nateete police station after his arrest on his way from his home in Butambala district.
Court proceedings heard that the charges relate to alleged activities deemed to have contravened public order laws, although details of the accusations were still scant by press time.
The magistrate ordered that Kivumbi be remanded to Kitalya prison as investigations continue.
More details to follow.
