NCBA Bank Uganda has launched the Uganda leg of the 2026 NCBA Golf Series at Uganda Golf Club, marking the return of one of East Africa’s leading amateur golf tournaments.
Now in its fourth year, the series brings together golfers from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Rwanda, and has steadily grown into a key platform for competitive amateur golf and talent development in the region.
The launch follows the season opener in Kenya and sets the stage for the Ugandan qualifiers, where players will compete for slots at the regional Grand Finale scheduled for November 2026.
Speaking at the launch, NCBA Bank Uganda executive director Julius Konyani said the tournament reflects the bank’s broader focus on community investment and youth development.
“The series has grown beyond competition. It is a platform for discovering and nurturing talent while promoting discipline, resilience and excellence,” Konyani said.
The Uganda leg will feature two qualifying events, with the first set for June 13, 2026 at Uganda Golf Club, and the second scheduled for October 3, 2026 at Entebbe Club.
The qualifiers are expected to attract top amateur golfers as well as emerging players seeking exposure at the regional level.
Uganda Golf Club board chairman Paul Nuwagaba said the tournament has contributed to raising the standard of amateur golf in the country.
“It has provided a competitive platform for players to test themselves and gain regional exposure, which is critical for the growth of the sport,” Nuwagaba said.
Uganda’s presence in the series has grown in recent years. In the 2025 edition, the country registered its largest representation at the Grand Finale, with seven golfers qualifying, including junior player Gabriel Amani.
Several participants have since progressed to represent Uganda in international competitions.
Organisers say the series also emphasises inclusivity and sustainability, with deliberate efforts to expand access to golf among young and emerging players.
Since its inception in 2022, the tournament has become a regular fixture on the regional golfing calendar, attracting hundreds of participants annually.
The 2026 edition is expected to draw strong competition across the region as East Africa continues to position itself as a growing hub for amateur golf.
NCBA Bank Uganda, a subsidiary of NCBA Group PLC, says it will continue using the series as a platform to support sports development and community engagement.
