Patricia Rose Turindwamukama, the roommate and friend of murdered content creator Jovia Namuwulya, has been arraigned before City Hall Court in Kampala and charged in connection with her death.
Namuwulya, who was popularly known as Jovia1235 on TikTok and worked as a waitress at Olives Restaurant and Bar in Bukoto, was found dead in her rented room in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, on August 20, 2026.
Police suspect that Namuwulya was stabbed before her body was wrapped in bedsheets.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala said Turindwamukama was arrested on August 24 at a friend’s house in Mbuya, Nakawa Division, four days after Namuwulya’s death.
According to Kawala, police arrested Turindwamukama after investigations linked her to the killing.
“Following the murder by stabbing of Jovia Namuwulya, which occurred on 20 August 2026 in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish, Nakawa Division, Kampala District, the suspect, Patricia Rose Turindwamukama, was on 24 August 2026 arrested in connection with the murder,” Kawala said.
Police allege that Turindwamukama was preparing to leave the country for Iraq when she was arrested.
Kawala said preliminary investigations showed that the suspect had applied for an Iraqi visa on August 21, a day after Namuwulya was found dead.
“At the time of her arrest, the suspect was reportedly planning to flee the country to Iraq. Preliminary investigations indicate that she had applied for an Iraqi visa on 21 August 2026, one day after the incident,” Kawala said.
Police recovered documents relating to the visa application, which investigators are examining as part of the case.
Namuwulya’s death was discovered after her workmates became concerned when she stopped responding to their calls.
The workmates reportedly went to her residence, where they found her lifeless body wrapped in bedsheets and covered in blood.
Preliminary findings indicated that she may have been stabbed before her body was wrapped in the bedsheets.
Sources close to the two women said Turindwamukama had moved into Namuwulya’s residence a few weeks before the incident after allegedly asking her friend to accommodate her because she had nowhere to stay.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged killing, including the motive and what happened inside the residence before Namuwulya’s death, remain under investigation.
Police said other evidence and documents recovered during the investigation are being examined as detectives work to establish the circumstances that led to Namuwulya’s death.
Turindwamukama will now face the court over the charges brought against her.
