Security agencies, including the police and the army, have raided Nation Media Group offices in Namuwongo and at Serena Hotel, shutting down NTV and Spark TV.
The raid and subsequent shutdown follow a series of warnings from the First Son, who is also the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
“Both NTV and Monitor will not re-open without my permission,” Gen. Muhoozi said prior to the shutdown of the two television stations.
Before going off air, NTV posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the station was under siege.
“Military lays siege to Daily Monitor, NTV after Gen. Muhoozi orders shutdown,” the station said.
