Police in Kawempe have arrested Katongole Anthony, popularly known as “Chicken Chicken,” in connection with the malicious damage of a motor vehicle.
The arrest follows a viral video circulating on social media, allegedly showing the suspect vandalising a Toyota Mark X, registration number UBM 696S, belonging to Sali Sharif, also known as “Shawa Shawa.”
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango, the incident occurred in the early hours of June 25, 2026, at around 3:00am in the parking yard of Akamweesi Mall in Kawempe Division.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect, together with others still on the run, allegedly smashed the vehicle’s windscreens, causing extensive damage.
“The suspect is currently in custody as investigations continue. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the other individuals involved,” police said.
Police condemned the act, warning that lawlessness will not be tolerated.
“We strongly condemn such acts and wish to remind the public that anyone engaging in criminal conduct will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement added.
